The luncheon was wonderful. There were certificates of appreciation given to volunteers and staff (I received one!); Maria courageously spoke about her sister who was a DV victim; and the silent auction went off without a hitch. :) People bid on Champagne Hot Air Balloon flights over the Strip, gorgeous jewelry, artwork, and more. Thank you all for attending and donating.

Most of the women and children that arrive at the shelter usually only have the clothes on their backs. You can support them by donating the items necessary for day to day use, such as toiletries, pj's, toothbrushes, etc. For a complete list please click on the link to view the "wishlist" for the Safe Nest shelter: http://www.safenest.org/pdfs/wishlist.pdf.

Just call or email The Lakes Professional Organizers and we can schedule an appointment to pick up these items and bring them to the Safe Nest Donation Center. I can provide you with a receipt for your taxes.

Many independent businesses are turning to social networking Web sites like MySpace, Facebook and LinkedIn to inexpensively market themselves. But entrepreneurs need to be careful — some ID thieves target these sites to copy a user’s information and target their online connections, according to the Aladdin Attack Intelligence Research Center.

By “spoofing,” or posing as a site user to trick contacts, these thieves attempt to fool friends and contacts into sharing private information which can later be used to commit fraud. Because there is so much personal information available in cyberspace, it is relatively easy for identity hijackers to copy someone else’s online presence and cause social, financial and professional havoc.

This trend will likely force social sites to take greater efforts to secure themselves and verify the identities of users through stronger identity screening.
